I lost my mind recently and signed up for a cake decorating class at Michaels. Today was our second class. We had to bake a cake and bring it in. Frosting my cake was less than successful. Well, it wasn't too bad, just crumby. My cake was very crumby. I will have to use more of the cake release stuff next time. Other than that, it was alright. We did some piping and practiced using the star tip to make a design.

Publix Shopping
I went grocery shopping yesterday. I took my granny and my aunt. My aunt is visiting for a while, so it was her first trip with us. She is on a tight budget (aren't we all??) and kept saying she couldn't afford to shop at Publix. I collected my coupons and shopping list from www.southernsavers.com and went about my shopping. We had a buggy-full by the time we were done. It included:
4 boxes of Cereal (2 Raisin Bran and 2 Special K)
2 Land o' Lakes margarine
2 boxes of Gorton's fish sticks
8 cans of Select Harvest Soup
20 jars of Earth's Best baby food
4 Betty Crocker Mashed potatoes
2 pkg. Johnsonville Brats, carrots
2 Dukes Mayo, 2 Pecan Sandies
3 Coffee Mate Creamers
2 Aunt Jemima Pancakes boxes
4 Voila! Meals, Pledge Wipes
4 Toll House Cookie Doughs
4lb bag of Navel Oranges
1.5 lb of apples
1 DiGiorno Pizza,
4 bags of Shredded Cheese
Ricotta cheese
1.5lb Zucchini
Metamucil
Greenworks Laundry Detergent
2 Diet Pepsi 2 L
for a grand total of $81, with over $110 saved using coupons and sales. Not the best week of shopping, but not bad either. I won't have to go back for at least two weeks. (I do buy milk at Walmart, but that is every three days or so. We drink a ton of milk! ) When we finished, my aunt wanted me to teach her how to use coupons!

My Monkey
There was a commercial a few years ago about debt. The person in the commercial had a monkey on their back, and as they went through the store, the monkey kept throwing things to the ground, yanking the woman's hair, and causing general bedlam. My baby girl is that monkey. She reaches for anything and everything that she can see. It is impossible to take her into the pantry while trying to fix dinner. She grabs a few extra spices and bags, tosses them around and then rips my hair out. FUN!
First things first
I really have wanted to start a blog for awhile now. Sadly, life has gotten in the way of my technological endeavors. Kidding! I have been busy with family and other things, so I am excited to start recording some of the things we do! Some of the things you might see here are my very amateur photos, my cakes from my cake deco class (I start on Wednesday), or some musings from my family members.
